Sunday 11/28 - 2nd Service - Matthew Study - Chapters 19-25 

  • The Narrative: Jesus continues his teaching about the upside down kingdom. The clash between Jesus’ Kingdom and the religious leaders escalates.

  • The 5th Sermon: The Olivet Discourse - Tribulation in the world’s kingdoms and His second coming.

  • 2nd Service - Matthew Bible Study - Chapters 26-28 - Bro. Randy Mogler/Washington

    • This section covers the Passover, Jesus’ trial, crucifixion and resurrection. Just like in the introduction, Matthew uses many OT references so the reader can understand that Jesus’ death was not a failure but the fulfillment of the prophecy.

Wednesday 12/15 - The Song of Emmanuel at 7:15 - An evening of Scripture and song celebrating the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. There will be songs from the Prairie Choristers and a men's group, along with congregational singing. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Please come and bring a friend!

 

Saturday 12/25 - Christmas Day Service (song service from 9:15-9:45) - Wednesday evening services on 12/22 are cancelled. Sunday Services on 12/26 will follow our regular format. 

 

2022 Updates Needed - Please complete this by Sunday Dec. 12th. 

  • Church Lunch - Anyone who wants their name added to or taken off the church dinner list should contact Bro. Harold or Sis. Judy Sauder. A current list is posted on the bulletin board by the ladies restroom for your review.

  • Church Directory - If you have any updates (including e-mail and phone numbers) you may either fill out the form online (http://roanokeacchurch.org/pages/church-directory-Updates/), send an email (DirectoryUpdates@roanokeacchurch.org), or fill out a paper form in the North hall and drop it in the box near the bulletin board.  

  • Onecallnow - We are using OneCallNow more and more as we communicate with the church.  If you would like to be added to receive weekly announcements or prayer requests, please contact Sis. Jenell Hodel at cjhodel@gmail.com.  

 

Song Leaders Needed - There is a need for additional brothers to serve as song leaders. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Bro. Reggie Wuethrich.

 Sunday 11/14

  • 2nd Service - Matthew 14-18

    • The Narrative -  John the Baptist dies. Jesus continues doing miracles including the feeding of the 5,000 and the 4,000 which evokes memories of Moses feeding the Isrealites in the wilderness. Jesus’ popularity grows among the common people and his opposition increases among the religious leaders.  Jesus begins explaining about how he must suffer and die, but it is beyond his disciples' understanding. 

    • The 4th Sermon - Terms of Discipleship - You must become like a child to enter the kingdom.  His kingdom is based on humility and forgiveness. 

  • ACYF Evening in Fairbury at 6:00pm All are welcome to join for song worship. Students will be meeting at the Pizza Place at 4:00 for supper before they leave.

  • Nominations for Church Trustee, Fellowship Hall Trustee, Nursing Home Board and Nominating Committee Due Today-  Please turn in potential candidates to the Nominating Committee. We plan to inform the church of the candidates the week of the 22nd in preparation for the Business Meeting on 12/1. 

 

Wednesday 11/17 

  • Snack Buffet - In this season of counting our blessings and giving thanks, the Scripture Memory teachers and students would like to invite the church to join us in the dining room this Wednesday evening immediately following services for a snack buffet served as a token of our thankfulness for our church family. All are welcome to join us for a time of fellowship!

  • SMC will meet in the church dining room at 7:15

  • HOPE will meet in the downstairs kitchen at 7:30

  • WOW will meet at the Fellowship Hall at 7:00.

Balloting Results for Church Remodeling - There was a strong majority in favor of the project. Based on your vote of support, the remodeling committee plans to proceed and will be giving periodic updates to the church. The committee would like to thank all those who voted and who gave their feedback.

 Sunday 11/7

  • Prayer Gathering at 8:45 in the Intermediate SS Room

  • Peoria Rescue Mission Service - we will leave from the West parking lot at 7:15.  Extra singers are welcome.   The service is at 8 AM.  (Don't forget the time change) At present, they request that you wear a mask when entering and leaving the Chapel.   Any questions, please contact Bro. Tim Martin.

  • 2nd Service- Matthew 11-13

    • The Narrative: Matthew shows how different people respond to Jesus, including John the Baptist.   Some embrace him and some reject him.  Chapter 12 is the turning point of the book where the Pharisees begin to discuss how they can destroy Jesus.  

    • The 3rd Sermon - Parables of the Kingdom - Almost every parable begins with the phrase: “The kingdom of heaven is like…” He explains to his followers why he uses the parables in 13:11 “...because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them (those who reject him) it is not given” 

  • Ballots for the Roanoke Church Remodel Project are Due - You can vote by email, mail or the ballot box in the back hall. 

  • Lost and Found - Any items not claimed by today will be donated.

  • Harvest Dinner - Just a reminder for those attending the Harvest Dinner this evening.. There will be a valet service offered and we encourage you all to take advantage of this opportunity.
