End of the Year Giving - As we approach the end of the year, we want to make the Roanoke congregation aware of specific ways you can directly support the work Bro. Scott and Sis Mandy Yordy and Sis. Leah Bertschi have been called to in Haiti:
  • HarvestCall Servant fund (used to support our missionaries)
  • HarvestCall MEBSH construction department (Bro.Scott's department)
  • A specialized truck for transportation (see bulletin board for this specific need)
  • gift packages, cards, letters (sign up sheet on bulletin board)
  • most importantly PRAYER

Sunday 1/10 - Morton Church Legacy Singing at 6:30 - Morton is in the process of building a new church.  Before they tear down their current church, they have set aside several evening in 2016 for Legacy Singings to give the churches in Illinois an opportunity to worship with them.  Roanoke and several other churches have been invited on January 10th.  If you can attend this singing, please contact Sis. Megan Hodel.

Monday 12/7 - Bloodmobile at the Methodist Church from 12:30-5:30
Wednesday 12/9
  • Scripture Memory Class - Their Christmas Party will take place at the Roanoke Nursing Home at 6:45.
  • ACTIVE - the ACTIVE boys will be going Christmas shopping for gifts that will be donated to a local charity. They will be meeting at the Commerce Bank parking lot at 6:30. The boys will then be back by the end of church services. The boys can bring money to help cover the costs of the gifts.
  • Wow at the Luginbuhl’s Home at 6:00 PM - This will be for the Thanksgiving dinner that was postponed. They will also be wrapping Christmas gifts for those in need so all Bible class students are encouraged to attend the dinner and the evening's activities.

2016 Rotating Potluck Update - It’s time to set the schedule for the 2016 Roanoke church rotating potluck.  If you have any additions, deletions, or other changes to the existing roster, please list them on the sheet posted in the back (North) hall.  All are welcome to participate.
VBS Coordinator Needed -  There is a need for 1 or 2 couples to be coordinators for the 2016 VBS week. Bro. Drew and Sis. Amanda Leman have served the church in this position for several years and have decided that it is time for someone else to take over. They are more than willing to help the new coordinators with ideas and advice on how to get started. Anyone interested in taking over this responsibility can talk to them or contact Bro. Scott Luginbuhl
Ways to Help our Nursing Home
  • Cookies and Birthday Cakes - a sign-up sheet is on the bulletin board.
  • A Plea for Volunteers - At this time, many of our volunteers go south for the winter leaving a need for some help.  Please call Sis. Patsy Kaeb at the Home if  you’re are interested in giving a small amount of your time to our residents.
    • Volunteers Needed - to pass mail, pop popcorn, help in beauty shop, etc.  
    • Drivers Needed - We could use some bus (or van) drivers which would need to get a JO5 added to their license.  This requires only a very simple driving test.  We often need drivers to take residents to Dr. appt. which most are able to go in  our van.

Child Sponsorship Opportunity To Serve - The Apostolic Christian Church Child Sponsorship program currently serves nearly 1,700 students and over 100 schools in five countries:  Guatemala, Haiti, Jamaica, Mexico and Zambia.  Its mission is to “provide a Christ-centered education to needy children.”  There is a current need for a couple or individual (brother or sister) to join the Child Sponsorship Committee for a six-year term to help guide the overall program direction and ensure its continued effectiveness.  In this case, one of the individuals needs to have a basic knowledge of accounting practices and financial statements, serving as the financial consultant to the committee and the administrative lead for the volunteer staff in the Morton office.  If you are interested in this opportunity to serve, please check the bulletin board posting for more details.

  • Topical Bible Study “Our Christian Heritage” at 7:00 at the Fellowship Hall -  Bro. Dick Meister from West Lafayette will be with us to explain the history of Christianity from the early church to this present time.
  • Scripture Memory Class - Due to the topical Bible study at the Fellowship Hall Scripture Memory Class will begin at 7:00 in the church basement.  Only the far Northeast and Northwest doors which lead directly to the basement will be open.  Also, just a reminder that the students can bring items for our Bags for Haiti project this week.  
  • HOPE - Please have the girls meet at Commerce Bank at 5:30. Girls will be going out for pizza and Christmas shopping for families in need. If the girls could please bring a donation to help cover the cost of the gifts, that would be greatly appreciated! We will drop the girls off at the FH by 8:30.
