HarvestCall Proclaim and Serve Conference at Roanoke Church on July 19-20
  • Save the Date - Volunteers and overnight accommodations will needed.
  • You can register for the conference at: https://www.proclaimandserve.org/
  • On Friday night there is a “Cost of Poverty Experience” that would be of particular interest for families with older children.
    • This is a 2.5-hour experiential training, designed to give participants a glimpse into the lives of low-income persons in their community by walking in their shoes through a simulated month. Feel what it is like to stay one step ahead of the bill collectors, navigate government agencies, try to get help from a church, avoid being evicted, and struggle with broken-down cars or costly medical bills while trying to find or hold down a job. You come away with more empathy for those in material poverty and greater insight into how to effectively minister to them. NOTE: this workshop has a $40/person suggested donation to cover the cost of materials and outside facilitator fees
