Serving at CVE - Bro. Clayton Hartter left for Mexico on 6/24 and will be there until August 10th  assisting with CVE’s summer program.  

 

Other Ways to Serve and Learn

  • July 11th - Open House at the new Apostolic Christian LifePoints Administration Building -  we would like to invite all who are interested in walking through the new building immediately following Sunday services until 3:30 PM. 

  • Berean Bible Studies - There's a new batch in the North Hall ready for graders.   We appreciate the wonderful help!

  • Renault Sunday School Collection - We are collecting new or gently used shoes, clothes (Size 2T- adult small),  and book bags to send to the children that attend the Renault Sunday school in Les Cayes, Haiti.   Boxes will be at each of the foyer doors the month of June.  Thanks for your support.  Please contact Mandy Yordy 309(678-5484) with questions or for pick up.  

  • Nursing Home Staffing Needs:

    • Activity Director - The Home is seeking a full-time Activity Director to coordinate the daily activities for our residents and provide leadership to our activity staff.  

    • Activity Aids Needed - The Home is looking for activity aides to assist residents with a variety of scheduled activities.

Sunday 6/20 - Senior breakfast is at 9:00am at the Fellowship Hall

 

Wednesday 6/23 - Installation Service for Bro. Sam and Sis. Marjorie Bertschi - All are welcome.  We encourage children to be a part of this special evening for our church family.  Bro. Kent Heimer (Taylor) and Bro. Tom Hoffman will assist with the service.

 Notification from: Apostolic Christian Church of Roanoke

June’s Collection - Operational Fund - This fund pays for expenses not paid through other collections such as: the printing of the Church Directory and Minster Directory, Church sponsored ACCFS Speakers and Presentations, Ladies’ Day, Young Group expenses, Roanoke ministers and Elder travel expenses etc.  It also covers Roanoke’s contributions to national church expenses such as: AC Central, the Church Website, Onward Media, liability insurance, as well as Elder support by ACCFS, Elder Forums, etc. 

 

Sunday 6/13 - Return to Regular Schedule

  • 1st Service - singing starts at 9:45

  • Lunch - 11:00-12:00

  • 2nd Service - singing starts at 12:00 and the service will end at 1:15

    • Results for Seeking a Minister - will be made known at the end of church

 

Wednesday 6/16 - HOPE will Meet in the Bible Class Room at 7:30 - This will be their last meeting until the fall.

 

Sunday 6/20 - Senior breakfast is at 9:00am at the Fellowship Hall -  This breakfast is to honor our graduates and to enjoy a time of reminiscing together.  All senior students and their parents, the rest of the Bible Class students, all of the Bible Class teachers and their wives are invited.  You should have received an email invitation a couple weeks ago.  If you have not yet RSVP'd, please do so as soon as possible. If you did not receive an email invitation, please contact Sis. Jessica Beer.

Nursing Home Update

  • Staff Needed

    • Activity Director - The Home is seeking a full-time Activity Director to coordinate the daily activities for our residents and provide leadership to our activity staff.  

    • Activity Aids Needed - The Home is looking for activity aides to assist residents with a variety of scheduled activities.  

  • Volunteers Needed

    • Volunteer Program -  The Home is also in the process of resuming the Volunteer Program.  If anyone is interested in volunteering or inquiring about the different ways you can volunteer, please contact the Home.

    • Urgent Need in the Dietary Dept - For this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday- 4pm-7pm.  Volunteers must have completed the CMS online training.  Self screening will be available at door D. Please call Priscilla Bill @ 309-923-2071 Ext. 171  If anyone can fill in these dates. 

  • Benefit Auction Update - After much discussion, the nursing home has decided to do an online auction again this year for the Annual Homecoming Benefit scheduled for August 27th and 28th.  Anyone that would like to donate an item for the auction can drop it off at the Home during normal business hours, or call the Home to arrange another time.  We are also planning a fish fry on the Friday evening of that weekend (August 27th).

 

Engagement - Bro. David Moser (Bro. Greg & Sis. Shar) to Sis. Claire Izeboud (Elvera Van Slingerland and Otto Van Zelst from Holland and her American parents are Bro. Steve & Sis. Susie Jones from Washington church).

  • The Silver Lining is requesting that readers submit articles on "What have you learned about pursuing peacemaking and edifying one another (Romans 14:19)?" The deadline for articles is July 15. There is more information posted on the bulletin board in the north hall.

Sunday 6/6 

  • Adult Bible Class at 9:45

  • 2nd Service - Message on John 15 and Moving Forward - conclusion of the Planning Committee will be given as well as the next steps that will be taken for moving forward. 

 

VBS - June 7th -11th (singing starts at 6:45)

  • Bible Class Students 

    • Students and Teachers -  please meet in the North Hall at 6:40 each night, so we can enter the sanctuary as a group.

    • 2021 Theme is Faith - See attached outline.  Feel free to encourage and pray for the speakers.

  • 3 year olds - 8th grade

    • Singing will begin at 6:45 -  Students will be released around 8:05.  

    • Incoming 3 yr olds through 2nd grade need to bring a paint shirt to VBS - Please label with their name if possible. If you have multiple children in this age group, you are more than welcome to send just one per family.

Dining Room Help Needed - Please consider helping with our church lunches by waiting a table. You may either sign up on the bulletin board in the NW hall area or go back to the kitchen on Sunday morning to sign up. We would really like to have two waiters at each table. Thanks for serving our church!

  • Bro. Fred and Sis. Jodi - have incurred some additional expenses as part of their return to the states from PNG through the COVID pandemic.  They would also like to purchase a vehicle for Jodi and the kids to use however the two costs combined will place a significant financial burden on them.  If anyone would like to help provide financial support for them please see Bro. Jonathan and he can provide more details.
