Sunday 8/26 - Fellowship Hall Maintenance Fund Collection

 

Sunday 8/26 - ACWR Presentation on Jamaica at Goodfield Fellowship Hall

There is an Apostolic Christian World Relief presentation on the ministry activities in Jamaica.  It will be at Goodfield Fellowship Hall tonight at  6:30 p.m.

 

Wednesday 8/29 - Midweek Service at the Fellowship Hall at 7:15

Work will be done next week in the Church assembly room which will require us to move services to the Fellowship Hall this Wednesday.  We plan to have Bro. Fedi Davidovic sharing a talk on "Christianity in Eastern Europe".  He will be talking about his personal experiences living behind and escaping the Iron Curtain and his testimony of becoming a Christian.

 

Prairie Chorister Information

For information about joining and practice schedules for the Prairie Choristers, Men's Group, and Youth Choir, please refer to the printed or e-mailed announcements.

 

Bible Class's Crown Financial Study

A letter regarding the final five weeks of the Crown Financial Bible Study for the Bible Class is being handed out to each participating student today.  Parents are encouraged to review the letter with their student.

 

Thank You Note From Sally

Bro. Jim and Sis. Helen Martin's daughter, Sally, has written a thank you note (which is posted on the bulletin board)  to the church for all the love and support they have shown her. Please continue to keep her in your prayers.  She will begin chemo this Monday.

 

Thank You from the Nursing Home

The Board of Directors, the staff, and the residents want to thank everyone for their wonderful support and participation in our 2012 Homecoming Day benefit.  The benefit at this point raised over $154,000 with some auction items to be paid for yet.

Prairie Chorister Information - If you are interested in any of the following groups, please send an email to Phil Hodel at plhodel@gmail.com by Sunday, September 2.

     Prairie Choristers - The Prairie Choristers will begin practicing on Wednesday night, September 5. Practices will end no later than 9:30pm. If you would like to sing with them, please send an email to Phil at the address below.

     Youth Choir - The Youth Choir (for grades 3-12) will begin practicing on Sunday morning September 9. Practices begin at 9:24am and end in time for the students to get to their Sunday School song worship.

     Men's GroupThere has been some interest in having a Men's Group sing at this year's Christmas Program. One option for practices would be 25 minutes over lunch hour at church. There may need to be 1-3 evening practices between now and December.  If you would like to sing in this group, please send Phil a note at the email address below. The number of responses will determine if there is enough interest to pursue this.

Saturday 9/8 - Women's Seminar by ACCFS at the Fellowship Hall from 8:45-3:30

 

Sunday 9/9 - Sunday School Begins

 

Tuesday 9/11 - Helping Hands 9:00-3:00

Helping Hands will be held on Sept 11 instead of Sept 4.

Sunday 8/19 - Family Sing at the Nursing Home lobby at 1:30 All are welcome to attend.

Sunday 8/19 - High School Worship on Wednesday
High school students should meet at Bro. Dave and Sis. Stacy Leman's home at 2:20 to car pool to Bertschi's Lake Wildwood home. Students will be brought back to Roanoke around 9:00.

Tuesday 8/21 - Midwest Food Bank
It's Roanoke's turn to volunteer at the Midwest Food Bank this Tuesday evening from 6:30-8:30.

Wednesday 8/22 - Richard Burton's Testimony and Baptism

Friday 8/24 & Saturday 8/25 - Nursing Home Benefit Information
● Please check the bulletin boards and your August newsletter for schedules and information for the benefit.  Check for times and locations to drop off donated items for the bake sale and the farmer's market.
● We want to remind you of the events on Friday evening that are new this year.  Tickets for the chicken/fish fry are available in advance for a savings of $1.00.
● Young men of all ages are needed to help set up the stage as well as tables and chairs on Thursday evening.  Please be at the benefit site at 5:30 if you can help.

Tuesday 8/14 - Helping Hands
Helping Hands will be this Tuesday. They will meet in the church basement from 9:00-12:00.  They will help anyone wanting to use the elevator.

Wednesday 8/15 - Women's Seminar RSVP Due Date
The women's seminar presented by ACCFS is coming up Saturday, September 8th.  RSVPs are due this Wednesday, August 15th.  There are still approximately 150 invitations that have not been returned.  The committee would greatly appreciate receiving those RSVPs for planning purposes.

Sunday 8/19 - High School Worship on Wednesday
The next Worship on Wednesday will be Sunday, August 19 at Bro. Rich and Sis. Bev's Bertschi's Lake Wildwood home.Students should meet at Bro. Dave and Sis. Stacy Leman's home at 2:20 to car pool.  Students will be brought back to Roanoke around 9:00.

Nursing Home Benefit Information

<![if !supportLists]>     <![endif]>There is a need for "young men" of all ages on Thursday evening, the 23rd, to help set up the stage as well as tables and chairs.  Please be at the nursing home benefit area at 5:30 P.M. if you are able to help with this.

Wednesday 8/8 - Worship on Wednesday for High School Students
The next Worship On Wednesday will be at Bro. Dave Leman’s house this Wed. at 7:00 P.M.

Friday 8/10 - Brotherhood Conference in Rockville

Tuesday 8/14 - Helping Hands
Helping Hands has been moved from Tuesday the 7th to Tuesday the 14th.  They will meet in the church basement from 9:00-12:00.  They will help anyone wanting to use the elevator.

Bulletin Board Signup
     3 Year Old Signup for Sunday School - There is a sign-up sheet on the bulletin board for Sunday School students entering into the 3-year old class this fall.  Please sign your child up if he or she is going to be 3 years old by September 1.  The sign up sheet will be taken down today

     ICC & Bradley Student Signup - There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board for all members and friends who will be attending ICC or Bradley.  The sign up will be taken down today.

     Hospital Lumiere - The 2nd Annual benefit auction for Hospital Lumiere is planned for Friday Nov 2 at Five Points in Washington. For more information on the auction and ways to help, see the announcement posted on the bulletin board.

     Nursing Home Benefit
     There are sign-up sheets by the bulletin board for pies and workers for the nursing home benefit.  We are needing pies for both the Friday night dinner as well as Saturday.  There are two separate sheets so make sure which day you are signing up for.  The time the pies need to be delivered to the multi-purpose room at the nursing home is on the sign- up sheets.
     The committee is also asking for help with clean-up after the benefit concludes on Saturday afternoon.  There are also sign-up sheets on the bulletin board if you are willing to help with this.
     If anyone has extra garden produce (if there is such a thing this year), please consider donating it to the Farmers Market on Friday evening.
